SURREY HARLEY BOOT FAIR

As seen in issue 235 of 100% Biker

Its April at last there is a faint hope that this long ghastly winter will be over and better than that it’s the Surrey Harley Boot Fair. It’s now almost a tradition that Harley riders, and yes I admit to being one, flock to this event in the town of Dorking , not only to rummage through the myriad of boxes and stalls with stuff, but to show off their (far too clean to me) bikes and catch up with folk.

To make the town even busier this year it also clashed with a supercar show (which I took my grandson to later) and the UK wife carrying championships (yes it is a thing) which I avoided as sounds far too healthy and obviously do not want to show up the competition.

Oh what a surprise April showers, read that as moments of biblical wetness, but still does that stop the hardy boot fair goer? Well to be honest a little bit. A warm welcome from a rather hungover Beaky and the other NCC boys who had decided that internal lubrication the night before was the way to cope with external lubrication.

While there may have been a few less people there was still some quality stuff to be had and there were several people loaded up with all sorts of parts. But one of the main reason people go, to say hello to others after the dark months and it was fab to catch up with lots and talk about the plans for 2018.

Of the few bikes around I loved the red sportster chop which looked as though it had done some serious miles. A classic bandit chop was also rather tidy.

A good morning as ever but please, please, please  can we have some sun soon please.
